The NZ Transport Agency welcomes feedback from the community on proposals to reduce the legal speed limits within Pukenui and Houhora. The Transport Agency has been requested by the local community to formally review the legal speed limits within the townships. The formal review undertaken by the Transport Agency supports the proposed lower speed limits as being both safe and appropriate for people living and travelling along these locations.
Consultation will take place between 31 May 2017 – 30 June 2017.
The two proposed speed limit changes within Pukenui and Houhora townships:
- Proposed new speed limit of 80km/h from 615m South of Saleyard Avenue to 25m North of Harbour View Road. The proposed 80 km/h is a reduction from the current legal limit of 100km/h.
- Proposed new speed limit of 50km/h from 25m North of Harbour View Road to 80m South of Harbour View Road. The proposed 50km/h is a reduction from the current legal limit of 80km/h.
The Transport Agency is consulting on this proposal and if acceptable to the public, will set the new speed limits by making a bylaw, in accordance with Land Transport Rule: Setting of Speed Limits 2003 and the Land Transport Act 1998.
